A hammer drill is an electronic device also known as rotary hammer or roto-hammer. A hammer drill is a rotary machine with a hammering action. Hammer drill is used for drilling purpose like drilling holes in a stone, concrete footings and floors and its working is similar to a jackhammer. While drilling hammer of a drill provides a rapid thrust to a material. In this way less effort is required for drilling. Drilling machines are of two major categories and these are lower power and higher power units. A Hammer drill is categorized as lower power units while rotary drill is named as higher power units. There are two major types of hammer drills and these are categorized as percussion drill and rotary hammer. A Percussion drill has a special chuck. The Chuck of percussion drill moves forward and backwards on axis of rotation. The motion depends on the chucks rotation. This sort of tool can be used with or without the hammer action. On the other hand, hammer action cannot be use alone as it is a rotation which s responsible for the working of hammers action. A rotary hammer has different types of chuck which moves forward and backward direction independently.
