I grew up in the quiet countryside, on a century old farm. We were far from shopping malls, movie theaters, and the big city lights. I spent my days with the animals, building pirate tree forts with my brother, and exploring the woods.

Our T.V only received a couple of fuzzy channels, that was okay because one of them had my favorite children's program called the Mr. Dress-up show. His show was all about creating art, imagination, and friendship. Watching Mr. Dressup inspired me to make up my own characters, and stories.

As a young adult I became quite a prankster. I left home and moved to London to pursue my love of art. I attended Fanshawe College where I studied visual arts and majored in painting. After graduating. I wanted to explore the commercial side of art, and I decided to attend Conestoga College, where I studied Graphic Design. It was there I first started using a computer for art. The most important lesson I learned was to see the computer as “a pencil.” My eyes were opened to new possibilities as an artist, this was when I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in illustration.

After Design school I started working as an in-house artist for a local company. There I gained hands-on experience learning gravure printing, as well as the business side of art. In the evenings I developed my illustration portfolio with the goal of one day becoming a freelance illustrator.

Today, I like to create with a good cup of coffee and with the persistent help of my three cats. When it comes to my illustrations, I feel it is important that they're entertaining, so I try to create drawings that would have been fun, and inspiring to me as a child. I still feel as though I am a kid at heart, and feel right at home designing my illustrations with kids in mind as my audience.
