Attemped Bird Feeder One
Posted by David
Last month I decided that it would be fun to have a bird feeder so we could watch birds from our kitchen window that looks out to our backyard. To attract some of the hearty little Canadian birds of winter I hung a suet feeder from our red maple tree. I did some research beforehand, and knew it would take a week or so for the birds to figure out there were some new eats in town to be enjoyed. I was prepared to patiently wait for the Blue Jays and Woodpeckers to arrive, at which point I would draw them as they ate the mixture of fat and seeds I have so thoughtfully offered them. My plan seemed so perfect. The birds get food and I’d have a relaxing new hobby/access to bird models for drawing. It is now week number five, and not even one feathered friend!
To keep my bird watching spirits high I drew this little red bird splashing about in a birdbath.

Love this little red bird and the ripples in the water and the just soft tone of the shading. Great stuff.
